What is OHSAS 18001?
The OHSAS 18001:2007 standard outlines minimum requirements for excellence within occupational health and safety management system. Being compliant to the standard helps achieve the highest possible working conditions for employees and helps ensure the policies, procedures and controls in place are which aligned to an efficient management system.
What are the benefits of the OHSAS 18001?
Being certified to OHSAS 18001:2007 allows for hazards within the workplace to be identified, controls and measures put in place to manage them. Making employees more aware of health and safety which results in reducing workplace accidents, incidents, illness and motivates staff with improved and safer working conditions. Furthermore, it helps us demonstrate compliance to customers and suppliers. Following a three day audit, we passed with flying colours with zero non-conformances raised.

What is next?
OHSAS 18001:2007 is the current standard for Health & Safety, however in March this year the new ISO45001 standard was published and we are in the early stages of migrating to the new international standard. We have already booked our audit with the NQA to migrate to the new standard in May 2019.
