Today is International Women's Day; it's a day to celebrate the phenomenal women worldwide, honour their achievements and successes and praise those who've inspired us. We want to take this opportunity to highlight the work of one woman who has been a source of inspiration for many at Romold: Sandra Geddes, our UK and Ireland Sales Manager.
Sandra has worked in sales for over 30 years. Her career began at Thomson Holidays, where she developed a love for the fast-paced environment (and international travel was a huge bonus 😉).
Unfortunately, in 1990 Sandra was made redundant, but this didn't stop her from moving up in her career ladder. Â She moved to the insurance industry, working for General Accident for many years as a Team Manager, then onto Virgin Media.
Sandra has always had a love and passion for interior design, so in 2005, she decided to take a chance and pursue her dream of setting up her own business. She opened a shop selling designer wallpapers and fabrics, as well as manufacturing soft furnishings and staging homes for the house build Industry. Unfortunately, In 2008, the company sadly suffered from the credit crunch.
Being the positive and upbeat person she is, Sandra decided not to dwell on the shop and moved forward by joining Viridor as a Customer Service Manager.
Impressed with her waste management and recycling knowledge, sales and customer service experience and enthusiasm, Romold approached Sandra to join our sales team in 2018. Looking for a new challenge, Sandra accepted and has been our UK and Ireland Sales Manager for 3 years.
Sandra said, "I was impressed by Romold, who are innovative, forward-thinking, and a strong advocate of environmentally friendly processes. They lead the way with a cleaner, greener production waste process at their Livingston facility, enabling waste production material to be 100 percent recycled. The company no longer has any scrap material leaving the site. I also know the business to be family orientated, and the customer is truly at the heart of everything they do - this is hugely important to me and ensures all teams work hard to offer the best service they can."
